A year ago when I first started running my online weight loss and wellness programs I had no clue of the power of the community that would be built around it.
Last year’s Elevate program was huge, it had a massive impact on my clients and such a profound impact on me. I have been in the fitness industry for over 16 years now and I have never had such job satisfaction from what I am doing right now.
One of the most memorable thing that happened this year was when my group of online ladies who had never met each other before got together to organise a suprise end of program party for me at one of their houses.
I honestly had no clue where I was going, my friend (who was also taking part in the program)drove me there and let me tell you, her lips were well and truly sealed.
I have to admit I was actually a bit scared. Where was she taking me? It wasn’t my birthday so I couldn’t understand what was going on.
When we arrived at a house, in an area that I did not know, and tentatively knocked on the door, a man opened it and smiled. I introduced myself and he said ” yes I know who you are” well that just really freaked me out!
We were led through the house and out into a beautiful back garden with an amazing structure (I can’t call it a shed, more like an extension separate from the house).
My nerves were jangling so much by now. Then I saw people hiding behind a big table but I still couldn’t make out who they were.
Imagine my shock when 15 of my clients jumped out shouting SUPRISE! It was so odd as I had only ever seen most of them on screen but here they were in the flesh looking beautiful and vibrant.
Beautiful food had been prepared and bottles of fizz were waiting to be popped because, you know, life is all about balance.
When I had got over the shock of seeing them all I felt so overwhelmed. It made my heart so happy to see ladies who 13 weeks previously had never met but who had supported each other and motivated each other, becoming friends.
Between them they worked out that they had lost 13 stone and 215 inches which is down to their hard work and dedication.
Making changes is never easy and it is definitely not easy to do it alone. The power of community should never be under estimated. When you surround yourself with people who will lift you up, inspire you and motivate you to do better, it all becomes that little bit easier.
I can not wait for my new program Empower to start . I have some regulars in the group and some new people who I can’t wait to help. Its going to be an exciting ride!
I have put a little video together to remind me of the night that I would love to share with you.
